The Civil Wars of the 1640s were the first 'Fake News' war in English, with an explosion of printed material, the birth of the popular press and both sides using propaganda to promote their cause. This event will bring to life how printing worked as we turn one of the courtrooms in Huntingdon Town Hall into a 17th century printers workshop.
Members of the Times Past Living History group will be bringing in a replica of a 17th century printing press and demonstrating how pages were created for the newsbooks of the period, from typesetting to bookbinding. Visitors can even take a souvenir page away with them!
The event runs from 10.30am until 4pm on Saturday and Sunday in Huntingdon Town Hall; admission is free of charge.
