Besieged: Sieges of the Civil War Exhibition
Admission: Free
Location: Cromwell Museum
We like to think about the Civil Wars as a conflict conducted through big battles; in reality, they were fought by sieges. In England alone, there were more than 200 sieges, outnumbering battles by a ratio of 8:1. This exhibition explores the importance of fortresses and why sieges dominated the conflict. It looks at how defences were constructed, who attacked them, and how.
Exhibition produced in association with the Fortress Study Group.
